A native of Memphis, Tennessee, David graduated both undergraduate and law school from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville. After graduating from law school in 1976, he first worked as in-house counsel for Southwire Company, Carroll County's largest employer and the nation's largest independent producer of wire and cable. He joined Tisinger Vance in 1986.
David specializes in Business Litigation, Wills and Estate Litigation, and Local Government law. He has litigated cases involving significant commercial and estate disputes throughout the West Georgia and Metro Atlanta area. A sampling of these cases would include condemnation cases, contract disputes, banking issues, and will contests.

Areas of Practice
Business Litigation
Many will say that disputes and litigation are simply a cost of doing business. If so, our job is to find creative ways to either avoid that cost altogether or to make sure that the disputes don't cost you your business.
Government
Lawfully conducting the business of the people is a hard, thankless job. My role is to provide the local government leaders with current law upon which to base their decisions and 30-plus years' worth of insight as to what is likely to succeed and what isn't.
Will and Probate Litigation

Zoning and Land Use
At Tisinger Vance, our legal team has the knowledge and experience to navigate the processes involved effectively. The firm represents and counsels our clients in matters of land use including zoning, development entitlements and condemnation.

He formerly served as the Carroll County Attorney from 1985 through 1993 and continues to be heavily involved in local government matters serving as the City Attorney for seven of the municipalities in West Georgia.
David and his wife, Kay, have three adult children and an expanding brood of grandchildren. He teaches Sunday School at the First Methodist Church in Carrollton and is actively involved in civic activities including the Villa Rica Lions Club and Carrollton Kiwanis Club. When not working, David has been known to enjoy a round of golf and periodic escapes to the North Georgia mountains.
